telc Deutsch C1 tests general German language competence at a very advanced level. The exam is suitable for adults who use German socially and professionally or academically in their studies. At C1 level you can express yourself spontaneously and fluently. You are familiar with idiomatic phrases and can vary your style of language as appropriate. You can use the language with a high degree of grammatical accuracy.
What is the structure of the telc C1 exam?
The exam consists of a written and an oral part. The written exam lasts 3 hours and 35 minutes. Before the oral exam you do not have any preparation time. The written and oral exam usually take place on the same day.
The written test consists of the following components:
- Reading Comprehension (100 min.)
- Break (20 min.)
- Listening Comprehension (55 min.)
- Writing (60 min.)
After a break there will be the oral exam. You will sit this exam usually with one or two other persons. Meaning there will be two of you taking the exam at the same time for 16 minutes or 24 minutes if you are three persons.
