The exhibition analyses, in an intensive and critical way, the everyday reality in Berlin, and the conditions under <strong>Hitler&#8217;s dictatorship \u2013 the focus lies in the pre-war period<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>But why 1937? In 1937 an exhibition was opened in the <strong>Berliner exhibition hall<\/strong>, which was called \u201eGebt mir vier Jahre Zeit\u201c (&#8220;<strong>give me 4 years<\/strong>&#8220;), relating to Hitler&#8217;s words from 1933. This exhibition has already illustrated the Nazi influence on Germany and Berlin at that time.<br \/>\nA few months afterwards, <strong>Berlin has even celebrated its 700th city anniversary<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Because the modern exhibition visitor needs a bit of entertainment, despite the serious subject, we can find more than <strong>50 objects<\/strong>, which make history talk:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What do the radio stations names tell us about the personality cult around Hitler?<\/li>\n<li>How can a butter dish become part of war preparations?<\/li>\n<li>What do the bust of Horst Wessel, a SA member, and the sculpture of a concentration camp memorial have in common?<\/li>\n<li>What does a Coca-Cola bottle tell us about antisemitism, and how can it connect Berlin&#8217;s anniversary at that time with the Nuremberg Rally?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These artefacts retrieve their and our history. In the exhibition of 2017, you&#8217;ll clearly see, which <strong>kind of Berlin the citizens lived in during the 1930&#8217;s<\/strong>. You&#8217;ll learn how the lives of each person had already been <strong>affected in the pre-war period<\/strong>, and which consequences that meant for everyone.
