The green city of Berlin
Berlin is known for being an ecofriendly city. Citizens of Berlin care about nature and it is not just a cliché sentence. When I first came to Berlin I was amazed by the number of public gardens, untouched natural parks and the way they are kept.
I would like to share with you my top 3 parks in Berlin. Except for the most popular parks, like Mauerpark, Tiergarten and Tempelhofer Feld, there are many other nice but less known places.
Viktoria Park
It is a small hidden park, situated next to the Tempelhofer Feld. The name to this park was given in honor of the victory in Napoleonic War. In 1821 a tall iron monument with the decoration in the form of the Iron Cross was erected on the top of the hill and from those times this place is known as the Mountain of the Cross (Kreuzberg), one of the districts in Berlin. There is a small waterfall inside the park and if you climb up, you will find a nice observation desk.
Friedrichshain Park
This park was built in 1848 and was the first public park where other people, except for the Royal Family, had the permission for entrance. Here you can find an artificial swamp with swans and ducks, the Fountain of Fairytales with the characters from Brothers Grimm’s stories and an observation hill with the view on the district.
Humboldthain Park
Everyone in Berlin loves this park for the rose garden, picnic meadows and an outdoor pool. For those, who is keen on Berlin history, there are the remains of the tremendous anti-aircraft towers, of which the Luftwaffe batteries fired allied aircraft.
Park is the best place to study and hang out with friends, it is a free space for your imagination. All the parks, especially in Berlin, give you numerous options to spend you time. But hurry up! The winter is coming.
