A Lost Turkish Girl in Berlin

Alexanderplatz Jannowitzbrücke German Deutsch Aleman Sprachschule

Well, Berlin is big enough to get lost, right? Especially, when I first arrived in Berlin in October last year. At first, you get scared how big the city is and how to get used to a big capital without speaking its language fluently, especially, if you want to start working in the field of pharmacy.

So how did I find my own way here?

Here is my little story about Berlin. I have studied pharmacy in Turkey and come here to learn the language and to be able to work in a pharmacy to have some experience in Germany. I know how important Germany is in the field of pharmaceutical science. So, I decided to give myself a chance to try something new and add myself a new language which is also very important in my field. I have just a little bit time to learn the language and also find a job. Basically, I sat on my chair, turned on my computer, and typed in: “German courses in Berlin” and started having interviews with a few of them. I knew that I had to learn the language in a short span of time and need to find a job quickly. Kapitel Zwei offered me a perfect time table to teach me the language and also take the exam which proves that I can speak German fluently. In 6 months, I got 3 levels of German. You don’t understand how much you improved yourself in just a short period, but the people around you realize it pretty clearly. So, in 6 months I was able to talk to the people and even have a conversation in deep subjects like religion, politics etc.

Afterwards, this is a typical Turkish story, my dad found a man in my hometown, and he knows somebody in Berlin, and then we met with that guy to help me finding a job. In Berlin there is a huge Turkish community. This helps in the beginning pretty much, but for sure I want to live here on my own. Now, I’m working in a lovely pharmacy with lovely colleagues. This is a little story of my last 6 months in Berlin.

Do you want to learn German successfully?
