Nocturnal Flea Market at SO36
A Trip to Kreuzberg with your German language school
Grab your coins and join us in a very special place in Berlin. On Wednesday, 20th February, Kapitel Zwei will take you to the legendary night flea market in SO36 after your German class! A DJ will provide good music and club atmosphere while shopping.
You like to go to flea markets in Berlin, but on weekends you prefer to sleep in? Studying German can sometimes be exhausting… 😉
This is your chance to get a bargain at a late hour! Practise your German vocabulary when haggling with the sellers regarding “clothes” and other “miscellaneous items”. Or how about “a red skirt” – wie wäre es “mit einem roten Rock”? Finally the adjective declination is good fun!
The SO36 is definitely one of the clubs in Berlin you should have been to. “SO36” is the abbreviation of the old postal district Berlin Kreuzberg SO36.
The SO36 has a turbulent past: at the end of the 19th century, the building was first a restaurant with a beer garden, from 1930 onwards a cinema, until after the Wall was built – when it was turned into a studio and supermarket. Finally it became a centre of the punk and new wave scene until it closed its doors in 1983. Squatters revitalized SO36 and it developed into a cultural and social centre of the Kreuzberg scene. Today it serves as a club and still stands for social and political activism against capitalism and gentrification and for an open and tolerant world view.
