Original Bauhaus – anniversary exhibition
Excursion with your German language school in Berlin
On Thursday, 24th October, Kapitel Zwei will visit the anniversary exhibition “Original Bauhaus” at the Berlinische Galerie in Mitte with you after your German course. This exhibition shows 1,000 exhibits, famous and forgotten Bauhaus originals. Not only the objects are shown, but also their astonishing stories are told.
But what is the so-called Bauhaus? The Bauhaus, or the state Bauhaus, was founded in 1919 by Walter Gropius as an art school in Weimar. For political reasons, the Bauhaus university had to leave Weimar in 1924. It was then continued in Dessau and later for a short time in Berlin as a private institute. It was finally closed in 1933. Even though this university has only been in existence for fourteen years, the influence in architecture, art and design is very strong. Some buildings, pieces of furniture or kitchen utensils become famous in various parts of the world. The style lives on, is adopted, copied or imitated. Maybe you even have a lamp or a chair in Bauhaus style at home.
This exhibition on 100 years of Bauhaus tells us “how unique items and series, remake and original are inseparably linked in the history of Bauhaus”. If this exhibition has awakened your interest, come along and join Kapitel Zwei.
Kapitel Zwei is looking forward to you!
