Readers needed – at a nursery school in Berlin-Neukölln
You live currently in Neukölln or can easily reach the S-Bahn stop Sonnenallee? An international nursery is looking for international readers, who live close by, to read simple but awesome (children’s) books to babies and children (from 13 months to 5 years)!
The great thing is, that you can read in your mother tongue as well as in German! The children are looking forward to your visit. It is a lot of fun to see the kids laughing and filled with amazement. They are appreciative and attentive listeners, no matter which language is read to them. This is not about perfection, but to get used to sounds, words and intonation of foreign languages. Thus, the children and babies learn from the beginning on, how diverse and multilingual the world is.
At the international nursery school children of many different nationalities are looked after, but the primary spoken language is German. Some of the children are rather shy. Give them courage in your own language as well as in German. It doesn’t matter, if you make mistakes in German. However, it is great to try it, to establish contacts and find friends, even with the smallest attempts of communication. That kind of feeling will stay with you forever and connects language and people.
The job as a reader is voluntary, but you’ll get a decent cup of coffee for free.
