Stasimuseum Berlin
Excursion with your German language school
On Wednesday, April 17th, Kapitel Zwei will be in the Stasi Museum in Berlin – Lichtenberg after your German course. The museum is located on the former site of the headquarters of the Ministry of State Security (MfS) of the GDR, which means that we will experience this historically significant place for “real”.
In the Stasi Museum we will learn everything about the system of domination and surveillance of the SED (Socialist Unity Party of Germany) until the end of the GDR in 1989. The “Ministry of State Security (MfS) controlled the population of the GDR in their professional and private life with the aim of to build a dictatorial system.
We will learn how the MfS has worked and what methods it has used in order to control and prosecute the GDR population. Part of the exhibition is the original study by Erich Mielke, the last Minister of State Security – so we’ll get a close-up look at this momentous and tragic part of German history.
So let’s get away from the school and into the “real world”: Learn new vocabulary in “real life” and join your German language school in the Stasi Museum!
