Exam regulation telc Deutsch in Berlin
Update on the exam
- You will receive an e-mail with important information 3 days before the exam.
- The result of a partial examination is valid for 12 months after taking the first examination (date of issue of the result sheet).
Duration of the different parts of the exam
B-Level exam
- written exam only: 9.00 am – 12.00 pm
- oral exam only: from 12.30 pm
C-Level exam
- written exam only: 9.00 am – 1.00 pm
- oral exam only: from 1.30 pm
Your participation
- The school opens at 8.30 am.
- Please arrive in time to the telc Deutsch exam! If you arrive too late and the instruction has already started, you will not be allowed to participate in the written exam, but still in the oral exam (if you are on time).
- Your participation in the telc exam in Berlin is only possible if the entire exam fee is received before the registration period at Kapitel Zwei has expired.
- The last registration is only possible up to 14 days (until 3:30 pm UTC+1) before the exam date. Due to the limited number of places available, we recommend that you book well in advance.
Identity control
- Before undergoing the exam Kapitel Zwei Berlin is committed to a strict identity control. Please bring your passport or your identity card on the day of the exam (otherwise you cannot take the exam). Identity Fraud will be reported to the police.
- All unregistered persons (relatives, friends) must wait outside the building. They will not be admitted on the day of the exam.
Your (correct) data
There are three different checkpoints where your personal data is requested for verification purposes. These must correspond exactly with the details in your identification document (valid passport, identity card).
a) Official registration for the exam at Kapitel Zwei (for our database and for forwarding to telc gGmbH)
b) Booking confirmation by email for a second check for security purposes
c) On the cover sheet (Deckblatt) on the day of your exam
All data must match to the smallest detail.
The information you give under point c) on the day of the exam will be forwarded to telc gGmbH and will show on your certificate. If the details under c) do not match the information under a) and b) and you wish to make a change on the certificate, you will have to pay a fee of €50 for the correction. The liability lies entirely with you.

- Missing first names
- Missing surnames
- Mixing up first names and surnames
- Country of birth incorrect
What do you need on the day of the exam?
- Please bring a soft pencil and an eraser to the written exam (no pens!).
- Please note: Dictionaries are not allowed!
- You are only allowed to bring transparent bottles without labels to the exam; non-transparent bottles with labels are not allowed.
- Please leave all jackets, bags, mobile phones, wrist watches and other personal items of any kind outside the exam room, as those items are not allowed inside.
Instructions from the examiner
- In order for your exam to be evaluated by the telc Institute, you are required to follow the instructions of the examiners. They will ensure that you comply with the examination regulations. In case of non-compliance, you will be excluded from the examination and reported to the telc Institute.
- Please note that any form of violation will be reported and followed up on.
Results
- Kapitel Zwei receives the exam results and certificates for the A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 exams and telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule, directly from the telc Institute after an average of 4-6 weeks. Depending on the quarter, the results can sometimes take up to 3-4 weeks. Kapitel Zwei has no influence on the duration of the evaluation by the telc Institute’s central office. Cancellation or rebooking
- You can cancel your registration up to 14 days (by 3:30 pm UTC+1) before the exam. Only then will you receive 80% of your exam fee back.
- Important: After this time, a refund of the examination fee is no longer possible. If you do not turn up for your exam, you are not entitled to a refund of the exam fee. A partial refund of the exam fee is only possible upon presenting a medical certificate.
- Your sick note must be submitted by 8.45 a.m. on the day of the exam.
- You must present a valid medical certificate no later than the next working day (Monday – Friday; by 2 pm) after the day of the exam.
- Under the above conditions, we will reimburse you for 80% of your examination fees, provided that the telc institute has accepted the authenticity of the certificate.
- If you have submitted a valid medical certificate and wish to change your booking, a fee of 20 EUR is due before the new day of the exam.
Retention periods
Anyone who successfully completes and passes a telc examination receives a certificate.
Anyone who does not pass the exam will receive a score sheet (Ergebnisbogen). The “Ergebnisbogen” shows the result achieved for the individual subtests.
Kapitel Zwei will store both your score sheet and any uncollected certificate for a maximum of 12 months in accordance with data protection regulations.

In case of non-passing the exam, the repetition of a partial examination and crediting of a partial result already achieved is possible.

In this case, the oral examination or the written examination can be repeated within twelve months after taking the first examination (date of issue of the result sheet).

Credit is always given for the last examination result achieved.

The Examination Centre must be informed of the request for crediting of a partial examination when registering for the examination.
